Shirley Marais, Integrative Relationship Counsellor and Psychotherapist and Supervisor
Founded by me Shirley, SM Counselling offers therapy across several specialties.
I am passionate about providing counselling and psychotherapy to support clients through challenging situations in both personal and professional landscapes.
I offer supervision to both students who are currently undertaking there Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling as well as counsellors in private practice.
I offer psychotherapeutic counselling to individuals and couples aged 18 and over. I embrace difference, diversity and equal opportunities for all, and welcome contact from anyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual identity or background.
I can help introduce you to counselling in a way that you are able to make an informed decision as to whether or not you feel counselling is suitable for you.
I understand first hand how hard starting counselling can be. I know how difficult or uncomfortable it is to put your feelings into words, and make sense of what you are going through and need help and support from someone outside of your personal life.
The therapeutic relationship is a space where you will be accepted, valued and feel safe. You will be free to be able to talk about whatever it is concerning you. Together we will explore your issues, re-build your self-confidence and self-worth, to enable you to take the responsibility for your own choices and make positive changes within your life. Therapy will be tailored to your needs alone.
I provide therapy that is culturally sensitive and culturally inclusive if needed by the individual.
I am also a tutor for the Northampton Centre for Counselling studies, teaching counselling skills to those wishing to increase their capacity to support others. I also organise local continuous professional developments for counsellors.
